I've got a couple of text/html modules that have some restrictions on viewing.   For some of my clients, they can see the new modules... for others with the correct roles, the modules are completely invisible (occupy no vertical space on the page either).   Of course this is the most important content on the site that links them to the main functionality.  arrghh.

There are some strange clues below, although I can't seem to reproduce it entirely:

1) Interestingly, those who've logged in before the modules were put up, cannot see the new modules... those who had never logged in before they were created can see them just fine.

2) This has actually happened a couple of times to me, logging in as different users.  Both times, I was able to get the modules to show, by opening the site in Firefox, then re-opening the site in IE.  Once that particular user can see the content, it doesn't seem to reoccur.

3)  Clearing the cache on the client's browser doesn't seem to help.

4)  I cleared the cache in the Host Settings page as well to no avail.

5)  I'm using v. 4.05.05 of DNN

Can anyone shed some light on this bizarre behavior?
Thanks,
David

Does anyone have any ideas about this one? I'm at a complete loss.

I've been using DNN since 1.x, and, for the first time I can't rely on what I consider to be the core functionality of DNN... segregating content by roles.

I would say it has something to do with the cache. The default cache for the Text/HTML is 1200, have you tried setting that to 0 on the suspect modules? You could also change the default cache time on the module def. If they can eventually see it, it sounds like it is getting cached.

Yes, I agree that the problem must be cache... I just didn't know how to address it.  I didn't realize there was an individual module cache setting.  I will try this and see what happens.

Thanks,
David

Unfortunately, it's still not working.  I've set the module default cache to 0 and I still have users with the appropriate roles that cannot see the content using IE.  One user can see the page on his laptop, but not his desktop.  This is so frustrating.

Any other ideas?

Thanks,
David
