First attempt to use DotNetNuke, also somewhat of a noob to asp.

When I first go to the site I get (In the content pane)

  A critical error has occurred.
Attempt to access the method failed.

This seems to disapear as I surf the site.

Site is hosted by 1 & 1 and is installed in a subdirectory.

I used these instructions to do the install:

http://faq.1and1.com/scripting_languages_supported/asp_net/dotnetnuke/4.html

I manually ran the install wizard after making those changes.

I also get other extremely random errors.

Site version is 4.6.2

I'm thinking I should erase everything and install 4.7 but want to make sure I can get this to work.

I have this same problem with the same host (1 & 1).  However, I installed DNN 4.7, so I don't think that is the solution to the problem.

Does anyone out there have any ideas?  I am also running a brand new installation with no customizations.

Thanks!

Dan

I'm having the same problem with DNN 4.7 using 1 and 1.

I looks like its isolated to only happening when the app is first started.  You can test this by making a change to your web.config file and then navigating to the web page, and you should see the error.  After you see the error the first time you should be able to navigate to other pages on the site and not see the error.

I've contacted 1 and 1 about this, and will post any findings.

I'm seeing this error after upgrading a test system from 3.3 to 4.7. Just like you, after I navigate elsewhere on the site, the error disappears. But it comes back each time I close and reopen the site.

Did you get an answer from 1and1?

After doing a bit of reaserch and getting no response from 1 and 1, I found that too many people were having DNN problems on 1 and 1 so I moved my web sit to a different host.
