Is it by design that the sub calendar name is affixed to each event name in the master calendar event list view

  • e.g. Event Name (subCalendar name)

I have changed the event list view to only display the start date and event name but the sub calendar name is appended to the end of each event name which is increasing the list length too much for my liking

If its by design is there a work around available?

You can disable this by unchecking the "Add SubModule Name" option the SubCalendars settings.
