In my testing I noticed the same thing regarding memory useage recycles.  It is based on any one PEAK in memory usage if I understand correctly, so at times it recycles a bit early if there is a quick spike and drop of the memory usage.  At least that is what I noticed on my system.

I've got the peak memory column enabled in task manager, but it doesn't seem to indicate much in the way of spikes. I've got all the memory and virtual memory colmns on and have watched them for ages trying to figure out what's going on. The numbers never seem to add up.

The memory usage just slowly goes up to about 400+ and eventually hits my 3 hour recycle. If I turn off recycling, or hit the portals hard, it will go up to 600+ or so and can freeze up if I let it go much further - I only have 700Mb ram available. If I do nothing and just let them run with no recycling, it sits around 500+.

I'll keep watching it and see what I can find out. It's odd that it doesn't just seem to work exactly as it says it should. I was wondering if having it all on a virtual private server might be affecting the numbers.
