Hi Guys

I downloaded DNN 4.7 source this morning. I couldn't get it to compile, mostly because there seems to be a massive number of Imports statements missing in a number of files.

So, I decided to user the starter version. This only worked if I chose Auto install. Any other option lead to a me getting to a page showing a gif anim and a message saying that the database schema was been installed (and this is after I've successfully tested the connection string and file permissions) and me sitting and waiting and waiting. Incidentally, I had this same issue when i tried to get 4.6.2 going a few days ago.

OK, so I've abandonded the source compilation, and been forced to use Auto, and I did eventually get a portal running.

Great, I thought, I'll mess with the FCK editor implementation. It all looked cool until I decided to insert an image and then clicked on the browse server button, which opened a new tab in IE, but I could select it because of the modal popup image selector. And the very page I edited this forum post had the same problem.....so the editor won't insert images.

Where am I going wrong? Or is this once great open source project loosing something as it progresses?

Tony

i have no issues with FCK, but did not try to recompile source yet, though the default installation worked fine. Did you check permissions granted in flle system?

Hi Sebastian

Thanks for replying. The VS project I created used the internal web server, one of the implications of which are that there are no permissions issues. Further, during the installation process, the permissions were tested and found to be acceptable.

As I said in my original post, the same problem I experience with the FCK editor occurs when using the image gallery when creating forum posts on this site (i.e. dotnetnuke.com) I use IE7 by default.

Many thanks

Tony

I figured out the FCK Problem. It occurs when the browser is set to open popups in a new tab.

Cheers

glad you figured it out, Tony. In fact I see a need for improvement of the FCKEditor provider in this area, as I always have the same problems with the IE derivate browser (Slimbrowser) I use.
