Just wondering if anyone has some thoughts on the time it would take to upgrade a module from DNN3.2.2 to the latest DNN version on the .NET 2.0 framework?  I know it depends on the module etc but it's a relatively simple module that grabs some info from a database, DAL, SQL, and displays it.  Standard.  Took about a day of solid coding to make the module.  Any estimates on how long to upgrade?

My modules all reference the user table a bit and I know that has changed.

I would think it would be just a matter of running in debug and renaming some methods to make it work in the new version.  Am I mistaken?

Umm really how long is a piece of string.

It so much depends on your module.

When we moved to DNN 4 from DNN 2 some of our modules came across
really quickly - im talking minutes of work.

Others took much longer - it is so dependent on what your module does
and on what parts of the DNN api that the module accesses.

The more elements that the module talks to the more work you may have to do.

a good first step is to grab the "dotnetnuke 4.0 module upgrade wizard" at http://www.dotnetnuke.com/tabid/125/default.aspx , it'll rearrange the files into the correct format and in many cases that will mean no or only limited changes are required.

Depending on the complexity of the module it might only take you an hour or less.

If you have VS2k5 SP1 you can go straight to the WAP model for projects and should be able to bring over your code. Though it might take you a couple hours to get all the kinks worked out.

If you don't have SP1 or the WAP addon for VS2k5, you can use the upgrade wizard as Cathal suggested. (I haven't tried the wizard in a while, it potentially might use the WAP model now)
