I deployed my first DNN 4.07 site on a standalone machine named DNN1.  I am attempting to reach site internally only.

In IIS Advanced Web Site Configiration I added multiple ID's for the site such as DNN1, forums.companyname.com, 10.0.104.23 (server IP), www.dnn1.comapnyname.com and www.forums.comapnyname.com.  I added these addresses to our internal DNS and all addresses resolve fine yet I am unable to reach the site via anything other then http://dnn1 (I had to add an entry to my hosts file to be able to resolve DNN1 to the IP).

Once I added the DNN1 entry to my HOSTS file, if I enter http://forums.comapnyname.com it resolves (via DNS - so I am confident that DNS is working right) back to http://dnn1 and I am able to reach the site.

What am I missing here?  I am trying to have all access/URL issues resolved prior to publishing the sister site  over the internet.

Thanks -

SD

You must add a portal alias for ALL other URL's that you which to use for the site.

You can add a new alias when logged in as host by going to "Site Settings"

When you browse to Host->Portals  have you added the additional site id's as portal alias's? Each portal can have an unlimited number of portal alias's associated with it (ie, the direct server IP, and distinct urls).

A quick question, is the site primarily for forums or are you wanting to have 'http://www.forums.companyname.com' resolve to a page with the forums module configured?

All - the above suggestions did the trick, thank you.

Amie, I believe to answer your question, Yes.  We are at DotNetNuke for the FORUM module.  We were thinking of having a tab on our Hosted Corporate Website link to the DnotNetNuke Forum site which would be hosted in-house.  The site would have essetially been one page, one module.  However, the more we look at DNN, the more we are thinking of moving our entire site to it :).
