Hi,

I'm running 3.1.6 on DNN 3.2.2, and I've tried upgrading to 3.1.8 in my test environment. After doing this, I can no longer download any files, it just comes up with a page saying I'm not authorized...... I've checked my repository settings, and as far as I can see all users have download authority.

So I thought I'd try an upload, and see if there looked to be any errors in the rows created on the database for those entries migrated from 3.1.6. When I do this, it looks like the upload os going fine, but it goes back to the upload page when complete, and no file has been uploaded. I've tried uninstalling everything and reinstalling. I've also tried uninstalling deleteting tables/stored procedures, directories, and re-installing. Nothing

In passing I noticed that it is generating loads of admin alerts, because it is looking for the forms.ascx.resx in the wrong place, or at least it isn't looking in the appropriate templates directory. But no errors.

If anyone has any bright ideas, let me know. I don't mind re-loading all files if neccessary, I haven't got that many. But I do need to be able to upload ongoing, and certainly I must be able to download

Cheers
Roger

Working on teh download problem.

Ahhh! Found the doanload problem. Because my test machine is a physical copy of my live setup, but not in the same root directory. The download is trying to get the files from the wrong location. I'm guessing that this is because the module is storing the physical location of the files on disk, rather than a relative path from the root.

For instance having a look at the modulesettings table shows the folderlocation to be 'c:\hosting\webhost4life\member\mysite\portals\o\repository' rather than \portals\o\repository'.

Is there any chance of getting this changed to a relative path, otherwise if an ISP decides to move things around, people are going to have problems?

Cheers
Roger

Roger,

Glad you worked out the problem

There's very little chance that that will be changed. One of the security requirements is that the files be able to be stored completely outside of the web root. Since not part of the web structure it would be impossible to address the files via a URL, relative or otherwise. The files are stored and retrieved by the module via physical path on the web server.

I understand the problems this may cause when moving from one physical server to another and will address that in a future release via an admin function similar to the "Sync files to database" function in the File Manager.
