Whenever I access a DNN site via Citrix Metaframe the menus are blanked out and inaccessible. That is, the menu is displayed but shows like white writing on white background. You can't select a menu item. The menu flashes for a millisecond then turns white.

I have discovered if you set the Citrix Colour resolution to 256 colours, the menus are displayed fine. Go higher to 16 or 24 bit and they get blanked out.

Has anyone found a solution to this?
Is any one running Citrix sessions with no problems?

David:

What version of DNN are you using?  What browser?  What version?

Your issue seems to be related to bad drivers.  It could be the video drivers on the Citrix server, or the video drivers on your PC.  Or the Citrix client.  Just make sure that all components are up to date.  Also, if your connection to the Citrix server is not very fast you should reduce the color depth anyway.

By the way, I run IE7 over Terminal Server sometimes and I have not experienced any problems with any version of DNN.  But, I have seen screen refresh issues in general when connecting to remote PCs using PC-Anywhere over long distances (i.e. Maryland to Puerto Rico).  Bear in mind that when you move the mouse over the menu you are triggering the mouse-over event to turn the sub-menus on and off.  You may see more problems when you are moving the cursor a lot over the menu since that screen area must be refreshed very quickly.  By the way, what happens if you leave the cursor over one menu option and give the server enough time to refresh???

The versions are:

DNN 4.5.1
Citrix Metaframe xp with Feature Pack 3 and Service Pack 4, on Windows 2000 Server (SP4 and rollup)
Internet Explorer 6.0.2900

This problem is being experienced by all Metaframe users in the organisation, who are running a wide variety of desktops, laptops and terminals.
We also got a complaint from an external user from another organisation, who was also experiencing this problem.

Note : We have been trialling Citrix Presentation Server on Windows 2003 Server, and this problem does not occur.
