I need to implement a group intranet for my global company by the end of this year.  Given the tight deadline, and some specific requirements from our Human Resourced dept., I chose a packaged (Cold Fusion-based) blackbox solution called Intranet C0nnections.  It offers two key functions out of the box that DNN doesn't:

1. A What's New module that aggregates all new content into a single view.

2. An advanced employee directory with images of employees / profiles linked to the Active Directory.

Can anyone recommend custom modules to meet this requirement in the latest 4.7 build?  The idea of paying $7500 for a Cold Fusion-based CMS in light of the rich free options available is not one that makes me smile.

Thanks -

For your first requirement I know there are some content aggregators out there, but I am not sure how well they work.

For the second one, that is something that would be nice, but I haven't noticed anything like that before.

I have heard of some work done by Blue Bolt Solutions that sounds very similar to what you are saying, in terms of the cutomizaton.  Those guys can get DNN to do about anything from what I've seen.  I would see what they could do for you.

I too have been looking for something similar and have found something which will appear to work for what you want (minus the photos)   I found it on Snowcovered  and at l-space-design.com.  I purchased it from l-space design as they offered a 60 money back guarentee.  It was only $37 USD.  On the l-space-design site they say they only have it for DNN 3.xx but you have access to the DNN 4.xx also.

Kel,

  1. There is an unsupported What's New module on the download page, that relies on the search index (i.e. it will include content of all modules supporting the iSearchable interface)
Another What's New can be obtained for free from www.efficionconsulting.com
  2. You can create your own directory with images either using UserDefinedTable (not sure, how to link to AD)  or extend the user profile to contain images etc. and use e.g. UserDirectory from www.Effority.Net
