We installed and configured DNN on a Development box.  We uploaded content, cutomized log-in and roles as well as forum discussions.  Whilw we documented each step, is there a way to migrate the site from one physical Machine to another?  Machines have different names.  If so, how?

Thanks- Sean.

-- If you only want to move the site files and it will hit the same database then do the following.

a) Copy the files to the server,
b) Manually add the new URL used for the new site to the alias database.

-- If you also have to move the data, do the additional steps below.

a) Make backup of original database.
b) Create new database for new site.
c) Restore data from original database.
d) If you did not do "b" in the first sectin, then add the alias now.

You should now be able to access the site using the new URL.

The above is the proper process, with the cavaet that you must be sure to setup the permissions, and IIS properly.

I have backup and restore guides available at my site http://www.mitchelsellers.com
