What features are you after I have a branch I have to run until some of the features are integrated into the core (which is on the horizon) if you let me know the features you require I can let you know what I currently have running. I'm not advocating that you run my branch, however I can direct or assist in adding some of the features I have to your own.  if you wish you can get me at john.nicholson-at-strath.ac.uk

John,

Have you played with the way to create  a new page? The current way is not usable for the average internet user.

Thanks.

Ivan

What I don't understand is why is John not on the project team or even the lead for it?   Has the core team approached him?   I thought he also said he was donating some of the code..   maybe Chris does not have the time so let's move on and deal with it.

The wiki (yes volunteer) is beyond the point of being patient.

There is obviously time

Rumor of a beta 4 weeks ago with volunteers to test it but not a word in the last month

Ivan, here is my submission related to your question:

Hi Guys,
Let me try and answer a couple of questions, firstly Ivan

I haven't implemented an add page function however I have looked at integrating some form of add link button for the wiki.
I know that Chris has implemented this functionality so that a topic can be added to the system that is not linked from anywhere and is searchable. I have a question about the user though, if the users aren't able to comfortably able to add a link to the wiki as it stands, how are they going to link to other topics within the wiki once they've added them?

This I can see is quite an important issue but how do we add this functionality without breaking the integrity of the wiki, as the last thing you need within this system is a large ammount of orphaned topics.

One manner in which we have looked at it here is if the topics are orphaned they appear in the index in that manner so that users can see that a link to them is required.

Brian, I can understand you impatience, however to be fair to chris, he has contacted me about my contributions and has made suggestions toward the possibility of being a team member.

I can also understand his reluctance to do this until the new version is released as this has primarily been a 1 man project for quite some time, and adding a developer so late in the release cycle is likely to delay the release further.

I do thank you though and am most flattered again by your vote of confidence.

Thanks John
