I am attempting to install using the instalation package on my local IIS on an XP SP2 machine. I have followed the instructions as far as I can tell to the T. However when I try to navigate to the site I get a dialog to enter a user name and password. I have added the NETWORK SERVICE account to the folders starting at the wwwroot location. I have given the site all available permisions and set the execute permisions to scripts and exicutibles on the virtual directory tab. On the Authentication Methods dialog I have Anonymous access checked and also the Allow ISS to control password ( I have also tried with the allow IIS to control check box unchecked) in addition the Integrated windows authentication check box has been tried both checked and unchecked. The NETWORK SERVICE has been given full control. I have also seen VIA google that on XP I should allow access to the ASPNET account but this account can not be found on my pc. I have read the documentation multiple time and see nothing that I am missing (but then again if Im missing it ...) I have also installed DNN on my server with out issues.

http://localhost/dev.danspc.com/install/install.aspx or http://localhost/dev.danspc.com Both get the same results.

Can anyone shed some light on my dismay?

UPDATE - I have found that the reason I could not find the ASPNET account was I was searching the server objects and not the local PC Objects. So I have added the ASPNET account and the IUSER <Machine Name> account to the security tab and have granted them both full access. I still can not access the web site.

On the Authentication Methods dialog if I check Integrated Windows authentication and try to access the site I am faced with a logon dialog, If that is not selected or unchecked I get the standard error page - HTTP 401.3 - Access denied by ACL on resource Internet Information Services
