This is weird ... I have a nice install of 4.5 with about a dozen portals. The host portal has about 20 pages and all the modules suddenly disappeared, only for the host portal, logged in or not. The last thing I did was enable "All Users" view permission on a page I was working on. All the pages are still there, the skin is still there, all the settings seem fine, and the content is still in the DB. The Control Panel content checkbox is not the problem. It has affected all modules regardless of type .. they just suddenly disappeared, every one of em. All other portals are fine.

I've checked through the DB and looked at Tabs, TabModules, TabPermissions, TabModuleSettings, Modules, ModulePermission, ModuleSettings and they all seem to be fine. Where else might I look?  Like I mentioned, all the modules, settings, and content is still in the DB ... just not displaying. Containers don't display but empty content panes do render. I've checked the forums and web ... doesn't seem like anyones had this problem before.

Update/correction to post ... panes do not render. I don't see the <td>s for panes in view source from a browser, and panes don't render when logged in as admin either (no dotted lines). Everything else seems fine. I created a portal template and all the content is in there ... now trying to restore from template.

I'll report progress to this thread, but if anyone has some direction I can look into, it would be greatly appreciated.

Okay .. I feel like an idiot. I found the problem and it was remarkably simple .... the portal expired. I changed the expiry date and everything came back.

Thanks, hope this post helps some one else along the way!

Glad you got that sorted out.

I've asked several times, what exactly happens when a portal expires, and I've never received an answer..  and now I know thanks to your experience

Hmm.. and it really sound like DNN needs to display a message when a portal expires. What's the point of leaving people staring at something that looks broken.

If there was really no indication that would have been visible to anyone using the site then perhaps that should go in Gemini as an enhancement.
