** Posted the below message prior to cleaning out the proxy history and all seems to be ok now. I will be reading up on those docs outlining the (right way) to backup and restore my site for next time, you can be sure. **

Hi
I am having the same problem as mentioned in the first post but creating a new user doesn't function for me. I had restored (site files and sql db) over the curent locations (dumb on my part but site isn't live yet so figured it would be fine - wrong) from a backup done last weekend so am I correct in assuming the web.config machine keys should have all been the same? Right? I did compare with the original backups of the web.config file I saved back in september when initially installing dnn and found that they were in fact different but when I swapped out the keys no improvement was detected.  As I mentioned I don't have this mornings pre-restore web.config file as it was copied over along with all the other files in my dnn directories. What should I do?
Thanks for your help.
Mike
