Hi

Im hoping someone can help me.  im experienceing varied results when i install DNN 3.02.  I have successfully installed maybe 5 clean installs of DNN that worked.  i then proceeded to break them for testing purposes and try to reinstall clean versions again to continue testing.

My last 8 installs have not worked for reasons i do not know and i cannot work out.  i set up the database fine, there are no issues there, i copy the files, and setup the website in IIS 6.  i setup the folder permissions also.  i then navigate to my site and the install goes fine.  then i click the link to view my new portal.

Heres the problem and i cannot even debug it.  i get a runtime error and it says that i should set the customerrors mode to off in the web.config to view it.  i do this and nothing changes.  its as if this attribute is not being read by the compiler.  it still tells me to change the mode to off.

I would really like to see the error that my install is throwing so if anyone can help me find a way to display it i could be grateful.

Cheers - thanks in advance

PortalAlias table entries should include

  1. domain name
  2. IP
  3. localhost/virtualDirectory

This seems to make it happy. If you can't edit one of your entries through DNN, I used SQL Server 2005 management studio to edit those values.

This may help.

Try restarting IIS.  This will force the cache to clear.  There is also an ASP cache in the framework directory that you might have to clear to get rid of all vestiges of the other installs and get to the error your having now.

In my install it's path is C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\Temporary ASP.NET Files\dotnetnuke\

Hi everyone.

I am still having no luck with the install of DNN3.x

the install works fine but when i click the link to view my portal for the first time i get the message that i should edit my web.config customerrors tag.  Nothing previously suggested helps and editing the tag to turn customerrors mode off makes no difference.  i still get told the same message.  its as if the web.config file is not being recognised

PLEASE could some one help me.  this has been going on 1 month now and i cannot use the DNN CMS at all.
