Ok, I didn't break anything tonight, now I am trying to learn what I can do with DNN.  I am starting to think about a good way to organize and display our member rides section of the website.  Currently, we build a new page for every member, insert the Front Page slideshow, and then add a thumbnail link to another page to get to it.  It is very clumsy, and does not look great.  It is also a real pain to add a new vehicle, as you have to manually move every car to alphabetize things.  This is where I think DNN is going to shine.

I want a module or solution that will allow an administrator to enter a members information, vehicle description, and upload pics (stored logically somewhere as pics may have the same name between members).  I then want one page on the site that will allow you to find a member either alphabetically (i.e. Jasper, Randy), or by the vehicle description (1969 ZL1).  I want something that is some sort of database, and I want to be able to display the pictures in a nice slideshow when the member is selected.  I really don't want to have to have 330 individual pages, so I would like something that builds the page based on the database information the user requests.  I would really like for it to be easy to use, and able to handle many photographs, as well as text.  Some members do provide write-ups of their vehicles.  I would also like to have the option of adding a linked URL to the page for members that have websites devoted to their car as well (such as an fquick.com or cardomain).

Our current site is www.northstarcamaroclub.com and the section I want to improve upon is the Club Member tab (we call it Member Rides now).  Is this something that DNN can do?  Who do I need to contact about setting this feature up.  This and the club events (very similiar format) are the core of our site right now.  It is important that we make it a much friendlier interface for the user, as well as much easier to enter and organize the data.  Thank you for your time....

Hi,

May I suggest 3D Carousel?  It's quite cool, the only downside is that when you reach about 20 pictures, the carousel gets a bit crowded. Can't remember who makes 3d carousel, but you can find it on snowcovered

Well, for the organizing end (so the user can find the member or car they want to see) I think that the User Defined Table with pagind will work out alright.  Not my favorite, but it will work.  Now I just need a way to build the pages it points to.  I really don't want to build 330+ pages for it to point at, there has to be a way that the Members pictures and the blurb about their car can be retrieved from a database somehow and displayed on a page when it is requested.  Any more suggestions?  For an example of a typical page on the member rides, look at Shannon Archer's 67 Camaro page on the FrontPage webstie (www.northstarcamaroclub.com), on that page you will see a slideshow, some text about the car and an external URL to an fquick page.

I strongly recommend looking at the Property Agent module from Ventrian.  Even though the name is a bit misleading I think it would fit the bill quite well!

Otherwise I might be able to whip up something custom for you, but there would be a much larger expense..
