Hi,

Can someone help this dotnetnuke newbie please?

I'm trying to figure out what is the best way to dispay our distributors information on the site based on the user selected region. Can't find a "contacts module" and have looked into the "Userdefined table module" (feel it doesn't do exactly what i want). Can you someone please advise me on what I should do please? Thanking you in advance.

The scenario is:

We have about 50+ distributors all over the world and want to have them appear on the contact us page - so when the user search by region and state, the distributors contact info is listed.

Is it possible to add "all" the contact listing in the one central lcoation (easy for updates/amendments) and categorised them into the appropriate regions/state? For example -
Region:

  • North & South America
    - sublisting of all the states
  • Europe
    - sublistings of the countries
  • Australia New Zealand
  • Asia and middle East
  • Africa

I'm sure there are a few companies out there that has this same format... if you are one of them, can you please help me?

Thank you!

This can easily be done with UDT (UserDefinedTable) module (V 3.4.0):

  • create the main version on an internal page
  • add the fields you would like to display and the region field (marked as hidden).
You can prepare a selection of regions, that will show up as a dropdownlist
  • Create the "contact us" page with links to the region pages
  • to each region page add a shadow copy of the main UDT, using "add existing module" from the control center
  • in each UDT shadow copy go to "Manage Table" and add a filter expression, e.g. "Region = Afrika"
  • add your data

Thank you Sebastian!
I will explore the UDT.

Will consult the user manual as this is so still foreign to me - I'm sure in time when i re-read your post again, it will all make sense (doh!)
(any chance you can provide a more detailed guide/step)?

Thank you!

Hi Sebastian,

Can you help please?
It is slowly making sense... but can you clarify a few things please? (I'm still new to this)

I've added the data from the beginning (as i was exploring the UDT) this is on the main contact us page (hopes this is ok? do i need to delete and add them within each of the appropriate regions?)

1. I've created titles for "distributor, address, city, country, region...etc" and unchecked "visible" to make it hidden (is this what you meant by marked as hidden?)
2. Not sure how you create the dropdownlist?
3. I've created the "contact us" page with links to the region pages.
4. I've Created each region with the shadow copy of the main UDT
5. How do I add the filter expression? eg. I've typed in the filter statment "Region = Africa" It says "Unsupported Filter Statement"

Thanking you in advance.

I assume, you are using UDT version 3.4.0

1. yes
2. go to manage UDT and enter editing for the column; enter the values delimited by ";" into the field "List of Values" below. Click the save button for the column and click return.
3. great
4. great
5. Use    Region="Africa"
