Is it possible to have a portal that contains modules that I would like displayed on other portals?  For example;  when I update the content in a text/html module on my main portal I do not have to go through and change the text in other portals.

you can create (modified) modules, that do not rely on portalID or moduleID to pull their content, but you cannot implement this with default modules due to multiportal architecture of DotNetNuke, separating clearly all portals.

There is a module or suite of modules called Content Sharing that should let you share content between portals
