I have posted a couple of requests for help on this but I don't seem to be getting answers.  I have also posted on a couple of other sites where I have purchased modules and it seems there are a few others out there that are having similar issues that I am having.  If someone could help me out this this I would be greatly appreciative!

I am being peppered with General Exception messages.  Its once I start getting them the portal doesn't want to react to any clicks on a page.  One exmple I posted previously was I wasn't able to create a new page.  It would just refresh to the current page.  I have to pretty much repeat my attempts and almost anything administrative several times before it finally takes.  The thing that set me off again this morning was I wanted to make some changes to some users and when I clicked on users...yep.. It just refreshed.  Resetting IIS fixes this problem.  What is odd is that reseting the application by touching the web.config does not seem to resolve it.  The only sure fire way to have a temp fix is to restart iis.

Hi Grumman,

I have no experience using the Forums module, but thought that since you haven't been getting any responses I'd offer you a little direction.

As your exception is indicating, you are getting referencing a null object in the forums controller, within the UserGet function.

I recommend downloading the source to the module and looking to see if you can divine why such an exception would occur.  Also, if you are able, I would go a step further and replace the assembly with a version that you've built that includes debugging symbols.  This would give you a line number to look at and allow you to execute some tracing.  This would almost certainly allow you to immediately solve the problem.  Once you have done so, you could switch back to the release assembly.

Hope this points you in the right direction to being able to solve the problem!

Always check the UserAgent in the error. You can pretty much ignore errors generated by search indexers as they are not behaving like a normal web browser anyway.

In the exception you've posted it is Googlebot. Your site is probably being hammered by Google and if it's on a typical shared host, it may simply not have the resources to handle it. You should make a robots.txt file and use the Crawl-delay attribute to tell it to slow down. Look up robots.txt on Google for loads of info on that. I use a delay of 120 seconds which is quite high but still plenty for the content I have.

Also - use the built-in DNN Google sitemap function, which will tell Google to only visit once a day, or use a third party one and adjust it as you like.

If there are other consistent errors, please post those as well.

I am giving your solution an attempt first.  If all else fails I will dowload the source for the forum and debug but from what I see below....I don't think the forum is my issue now......  I found several IIS restarts which may be the root cause of the submits failing.  Not sure if I am really getting this many to force me to repost a message several times but I will start here.

Seems like I am getting hammered with other errors as well.. See below..
