Hi All,

I'm hoping someone could provide me with some guidence. I just downloaded the 4.7 source and tried to upgrade from 4.6.2 and am receiving all sorts of strange errors. I've upgarded many times before so know the routine of updating the connection string, machinekey etc .  I did all that and the solution builds successfully. When I try to access the portal I get a config error:

Could not load type 'DotNetNuke.Services.Authentication.LogOffHandler' from assembly 'DotNetNuke'.
So I comment out this line in the httphandlers section and try again. I then get the following error in Default.aspx.vb

'RegisterPage' is not a member of 'DotNetNuke.Framework.AJAX'.

I did recently install the 3.5 version of the framework on my machine but I did confirm dnn 4.7 is using version 2.0.

I'm at a loss at the moment so I'm hoping someone could offer some guidence

Hi Vincent,

I'm experiencing the same issue upgrading 4.6.2 to 4.8.0. Did you ever find what went wrong in your case? I, as well, am at a loss.

Regards,

- Alex.

Well, this makes four of us getting this error.  Hopefully someone from the core team can point out what is wrong?  I'm using the same environment as those above, though I had already upgraded to 4.7 successfully.  However, when I went to debug something, I rec'd this error.

Is this possibly because the source was for 4.6.2 (my previous version)?  I thought I had upgraded the source also, but it's hard to remember back a month or so.  Could someone w/knowledge point us in the right direction?  Did any of the above figure out the problem?

Well, I can't confirm how the rest of you got the error, but I rec'd it after I had upgraded from 4.6.2 to 4.70.  At first everything ran fine, but a month later, I opened the DNN sln file, and did a recompile without thinking.  I believe the *source* code was 4.6.2, and because it had overwritten all the dlls for 4.7, the above is the error you will end up receiving.

It's a bit confusing, but I would suggest restoring your backup (you do have one, right? ;-)), and if you have previously downloaded the source, you should download the source for the version you're overwriting, and then continue w/the install.  Don't make the mistake I did and use the upgrade, since inevitably you will open the sln file, and compile, and things won't sync up.

Hope this helps some of the above people who had these problems and didn't get any responses to their questions.
