Had an impromptu demonstration and discusion about the new website at the gemeral members meeting this evening, and it was a big success.  For next weeks officers meeting I need to present some paperwork about security, liability and legal stuff, but everyone loves the features I demonstrated.  I think the new site will really help our club a lot, and the forum module will definately get a bit of use (people have been asking about a forum for several months now).  I need to get a full content site built up and hosted for the september meeting, and I expect that if all goes well we will have the site live by April.  Still a lot to work on, and going to have to buy a few modules, and commision a skin, but I am pretty excited about the possibilities the DNN platform offers us.  Thanks for any past and future help.  Oh, and does ANYONE have suggestions on learning how to use the store module?  I am a bit nervous about that one...

Other than playing with the module features on a test installation, your best bet would be the documentation.  Unfortunately, it is not free.  :(

Bummer, I already bought her Dummies! book, now I will have to buy more since the stuff in the Dummies! book is so out of date.  This type of thing has been the hardest part of the DNN experience, it isn't always easy for us non-programmers to figure out how things work.

I understand.  I have two DNN books.  Due to the frequency of releases and the hard work of the DNN Core and Project Teams, both were out-of-date as soon as I purchased them.  In a way, it is kind of humorous, but not to the wallet.  :)

However, although the books are somewhat dated, you can rest easy knowing that there are many folks out there working very hard at making DNN everything we want it to be, so you don't have to do all of that work yourself.

Depending on the tutorials that you need there are various people like myself who publish tutorials on our personal sites, mine is http://www.mitchelsellers.com  If you have a module you would like to see a tutorial on send me an e-mail and I might be able to work it in.  I'm always looking for new topics for my blog.
