I'm using the same web.config for my local testsite and 2 other test servers which are all running the application fine. It' just my clients server which is throwing that error. It's got me a bit stumped.

When I set it up on the client server, I create the database (with the same name and login as on my local copy) - do a restore - copy all the files across and navigate to the URL - with the same process all my test servers work it's just my clients that dont

Anything else I could try appreciated.

Just to update:

It's looks like there was some conflict with the DNN version on the clients server, after many attempts it came up with a DNN upgrade screen - went through the upgrade procedure and it all worked, so don't know exactly what caused this as I had it running on 3 other locations with no probs.

Anyway working now, thanks for your replies.

Did you upgrade versions to 4.8.0 where as before you were on an older version. I believe there is a known issue with the active directory module in 4.8.0. New installations lock up over a very similar null refrence if you try and include the ad module for 4.8

Not sure its the case here but could be the problem.
