Hi Guys
Love the forum module!

I am about to push it to its limits though and so have a question which may turn out to be a future request.

I am launching a forums site which will cover everything you can think of.  I would like to have this under one main forum.  Doing that means hundreds of groups and then hundreds of forums in each group making navigation for the correct group hard.

I can make that easier by the great feature of making a page dedicated for the forum as on this site.  But it is still going to be complex.  I really need categories (a bit like yahoo and google directories - such as Entertainment, Computing etc).  Take Computing as an example.  I would need a forum for Computing and a group for .NET and then a forum for ASP.NET.  So that would be one forum module, hence i have to have one for each Directory/Category i want rather than one big one overall.

Is this the only way to achieve this at present?  And if so is there any plans to have a Category sit above the current group in the future?

Thanks
Mark

I don't think 'categories' as you call them are any different than groups now.  What I do think we need eventually is another level of forums.  This would achieve what you are talking about.  Some of the more recent enhancements I have made I have already started adding the hook for another forum level in the organization.  This would actually be "sub-forums" if we refer to it any further.  The ability to add this shouldn't be too difficult but it affets the entire module for the most part so the risk is high.  For now I would like to see time spent on tightening up the new enhancements and any other outstanding/new bugs before taking this one on.  I also think the module's UI theme solution should be enhanced before this.  In the end, I am not sure when this will be worked on at this time.

That sounds great.
Another level was what i was really after, whether above or below.

I do agree with you about delaying this new feature until the rest has been completed, especially the UI.  I will work something out with the current setup for my situation :)

Many thanks for an awesome module
