I recently installed a copy of the Text/HTML module on evey page as a better way to place Google Analytic's code on every page. I discovered that there are xhtml compliance issues with having and empty Test/HTML module on each page and went to remove it/them.

I thought I remembered with page I had installed the original module on and went there to delete it.  It was deleted there but nowwhere else. To make a long story short I wound up deleteing it on about 100 pages, one-at-a-time.

How is this supposed to work?  Is one page the "master" and you had better remember which one?  Can you install on all pages and then delete from a few?

Was my problem a caching problem, and had I gone and had a few beers my problems would have been solved? I did try clearing caches, dispabing PageBlaster and restarting the applications to with no success.

I am not intimate enough with the source code yet to be 100% positive on your correct answer, but here is what I have experienced by trial and error...

If you choose to "display the module on every page" and then need to remove it, you should first uncheck that check box in the module settings BEFORE you delete the module.  When you uncheck that checkbox, the module will only appear on the page that it was originally added to.  This behavior would likely be by design.

In addition, I have experienced weird things when adjusting the settings and content of modules that are displayed on every page.  The only exception was when I edited the original instance of the module.

Doh!  I've always been going about this the wrong way!  I was deleting the module from each page as well.

Turns out....sure enough, if you uncheck Display Module on All Pages? that it will remove it from the other pages.

It doesn't even need to be from the page it was originally added to.  It looks like when you uncheck that setting and update, DNN will remove the references from all pages other than the one that you are on.  You can then delete the module from the current page.

Excellent!  It is always comforting to have confirmation of software behavior in open source projects.  :)
