This issue hasn't been resolved with any other threads I've seen out there.

I'm running dnn 4.5.1

I can't seem to properly configure my websites smtp to allow me to use the built in e-mail features of dnn.

In the Host settings I have set the smtp server to be:

mail.minnesotamajority.org

and the user name and password are of an e-mail address that is of the domain (support@minnesotamajority.org.)

I am using basic authentication and have left ssl unchecked.

The host e-mail is support@minnesotamajority.org

When I try to use the built in e-mail functionality of dnn I can only send e-mails to recipients who possess addressed at my domain (ie. @minnesotamajority.org).  All other recipients never receive e-mails.

Is this something I'm not setting up right or is my hosting provider blocking some relay function.  Crystaltech is telling me that I should be fine.

Is support@minnesotamajority.org a valid email address? IE: can you connect to the mailserver with that email account? What happens when you don't use a username and password? Does the email configuration test pass or get blocked? Is there anything in the returned messages that might point to what the problem is?

It's probably not DNN, but rather your SMTP server.  Look in the SMTP logs for help, and test to see if it will relay outside your domain from a mail client.
