I just installed DNN starter kit and receive an error  page stating FAILED TO ACCESS IIS METABASE when I open the web browser at localhost/dotnetnuke.  I'm using  .Net Framework 2.0 and ASP.Net 2.0.  Any suggestions on solving this problem.

Thanks,

Wbosw

Did you by chance install asp.net before IIS? Maybe try opening a DOS prompt changing to the c:\windows\framework\yourversion of aspnet   (maybe check that path,  it's off the top of my head) and run aspnet_iisreg -i

That will resync the aspnet or network service passwords I think. but I'm a noob so maybe wait for a better suggestion.

Hi

I have this error too, but the strange thing is when I run the application using Visual Studio 2005 (ctrl + f5) it runs successfully with no errors. But when I run the application through the browser directly, it shows me the same error you have. I've searched the Internet, there is a documnet by Microsoft which says that you should install a tool named MetaAcl.vbs, I've installed this tool but can not use it. they say by this tool you may give read permissions to the IIS metabase to your application or mine.

please if there is any suggestions by any one....

Kind Regards

When you run the application using Ctrl+F5 you are using the built in Visual Studio web server. When you go to the application directly you use using the IIS webserver (a different web server).
