I'm having the same exact problem as well. It seemed to have appeared overnight. I updated text in the module and the problem is fixed--for now. I'm guessing it'll probably appear again at some point. Any solution to this yet to fix it for good?

I took the earlier advice and modifed the announcement just by adding a space at the end.  The 'Select View' no longer appears.  It was not happening on pages accessible to authenticated users....

good job! just add a space at the end of announcements title

thx

Had issue first time today.

DNN: 5.2.2

Announcements: 4.0.3

Going make a change to the module and.........

hmm... tried making a change to the title of the module "Announcements" to "Announcements   "   (<- added space to end) no dice.

changed the title of one of the actual announcement records, and *poof* it went away.

Now initially I never made any changes to the Announcements module to get this in the first place (that i know of), it was the first module I added to the site and have not touched since.  Could it possibly be that some of the announcements are expiring? (shoot should have checked the DB before fixing it).  Maybe it expires and is now adding more possible views, although the anonymous user should not be able to change it, it is creating a drop down (as a bug), but is not listing the contents of the drop down because they are anonymous?

I guess the questions is, do announcements auto expire?  If so, could be related.  If not, sorry for wasting your time reading this and atleast you know its happening in DNN/Announcement versions up to date.

Hi Jason,

Not sure if your question is still open, but let me share as much as information as I have.
I am a beginner in working with DNN, but I can tell you, that Announcements can expire. When you enter a New Announcement, by default the Expire Date is set to empty. In case you enter a date there, the Announcement is not going to be visible beyond that date. However as Editor of the Announcement module, you will still be able to see that expired Announcement by selecting either "Expired" or "All" in the Select View dropdown box.

For your and everyones reference I have started to see recently the same failure mode several other people noted in this thread and I was able to fix it (at least temporarily) by unchecking the Display Container option under the Announcement module Settings. However then as an experiment going back and checking that option did not turn the failure mode back on. Sometimes the empty Select View dropdown box disappeared for me just by simply refreshing the page in my browser, but lately that did not help.

I am using Announcement module 4.0.3 with DNN version 05.02.02 (73).
