As far as I am aware there is NO way to save a DNN site as a "static" site once you have it built....it might be possible, but it would be VERY hard.

Doesn't PageBlaster do something like that?  (Only for cache though)

Essentially that is how the cache system works in pageblaster if I recall correctly.

A while back there was a module that would actually export a DNN site as a static site, but I don't know if it worked, nor if it still exists.

Regardless, no interactive content would exist or function...

You could try "grabbing" it from the development machine by something like Teleport or OfflineExplorer.

Last time I checked they couldn't do it, but that was a long time ago.

Interaction aside, that is an interesting notion... Using DNN as a WYSIWYG web designer.

It really isn't designed for it (obviously), but I always take note when someone is using something for what it wasn't intended.  This concept would be interesting as a sort of proxy service to utilize the CMS capabilities in DNN to generate the content and mark-up.  Such mark-up would ordinarily be a lot more work to do in software like Dreamweaver.

To address that though, this is not likely to become a feature in DNN at all.  I do not think that the Core Team would consider this in their direction, as the current plans are to make DNN more interactive.  If you can find a 3rd party solution to do this, I think I understand what you're trying to do.
