I was going to suggest you run the SQL Profiler and get the start and end times for the sps.  Glad you fund the problem though.  You still could run it and then run the idex wizard to see if there is a more effecet way to index the DB.

Not a bad idea.. index wizard. 

I just ran Microsoft's SQL Performance program and it found apparently about 14 issues.. but they were issues with how DNN had stored procedures written and tables written.. nothing I remotely want to delve into :)
