Yes, it does have to have the fixed name of document categories.

You can remove the listings that you added in the Lists section manually.

Mitch,

I find it strange that I cannot delete the Document Categories, but I can delete the Article Categories that I created for test.
I can see the Delete link beside the Article Categories, but I cannot see the Delete link beside the Document Categories.
It seems that only specified List can be deleted.

Freddy,

That is very unusual.  The functionality is part of the core and not a documents module specific item.

Which version of DNN are you using?

I have tested and found what appears to be a bug in the lists functionality in various versions of DNN that don't allow me to remove lists either...

I'm going to have to dig into this one a bit further.
