Hi there!

I am completely new to the topic and am now trying to deploy my first DNN Website.
I've already come so far to install the site, but the error my browser publishes later on is... confusing.

[UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\DotNetNuke\DotNetNuke Website\\DotNetNuke.config' is denied.]
System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath) +1971539
System.IO.File.InternalCopy(String sourceFileName, String destFileName, Boolean overwrite) +488
DotNetNuke.HttpModules.RequestFilter.RequestFilterSettings.GetSettings() +236
DotNetNuke.HttpModules.RequestFilter.RequestFilterModule.FilterRequest(Object sender, EventArgs e) +271
System.Web.SyncEventExecutionStep.System.Web.HttpApplication.IExecutionStep.Execute() +92
System.Web.HttpApplication.ExecuteStep(IExecutionStep step, Boolean& completedSynchronously) +64

Now I can see that the problem might be with the two dashes (since I've already managed to share the DNN-folder), but where do I have to enter the correct location of the DotNetNuke.config (which is in ...Website\Config\DotNetNuke.config)?
A pretty basic question, I imagine. Would be very happy about some help anyway...
Thanks, David

Hi Erik,

it does, that much is clear. While I found a "solution" in a different forum (copying the DotNetNuke.config to the DNN root directory) I am now facing a different problem. That is:

[NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.]
DotNetNuke.HttpModules.UrlRewriteModule.RewriteUrl(HttpApplication app) +378
DotNetNuke.HttpModules.UrlRewriteModule.OnBeginRequest
(Object s, EventArgs e) +1172
System.Web.SyncEventExecutionStep.System.Web.HttpApplication.IExecutionStep.Execute() +92

System.Web.HttpApplication.ExecuteStep(IExecutionStep step, Boolean& completedSynchronously) +64

This occurs although I am trying to setup the standard-initial page. Without having coded anything myself (so I can't figure where there should be a NullReferenceExceptoin)...

I have exactly the same problem as you had.  Initially with the

Access to the path 'D:\vhosts\buzzteam.co.nz\httpdocs\\DotNetNuke.config' is denied.

error message.  And then, if I copy DotNetNuke.config to the root httpdocs directory (which doesn't seem like the ideal solution) then I get the NullReferenceException that you described.

Other forum posts seems to suggest that I need to make sure that the NetworkService user has full permissions on my folders & files.  This is on a hosted server however and the IIS user for my account is IUSR_zbuzztea5477nz, and the IIS worker process user is IWAM_plesk - both of which have full access permissions to all files & folders in httpdocs and below.

Any advise much appreciated.

thanks
