Hi
I was trying out the two options for a large forum (as mentioned in a previous post about sub forums).  I tried putting two modules on a page and named them module1 and module 2.  I then put groups and forums in each and all was good :)

But when i tested it and tried to view a thread in a forum in either module both modules displayed the same post/thread.
I could post correctly in either but could not view correctly.

Does this mean we cant have more than one module on a page?

I also couldnt move a thread in the module but i will check to see if i can move it when there is only one module on the page and will post a seperate bug if so.

Thanks
Mark

I'm pretty sure the Forums are a portal wide module and you can only have one.  I kind of remember the other post that you reffered to.  The way I see the forums as being structured I don't think you would really need to have more than one forum module on a page if you grouped all of your forums carefully.

It seems the module that you can drop on a page is more of a Group container and the group is a forum container where you can only place like objects in each container and create a seperate page for each group.  Kind of like they do here where there are groups containing forums for each project on their own pages and then a Group to rule them all in the main forums page that shows everything.

Then you just use the role restrictions for each forum to base who gets to see what.

Anyway I don't think it's a bug, just the way it was designed to work.

You cannot have more than one module on a page, unless you limit who can see it but I still recommend against that too.  You can use more than one module on a site, but some stats may seemed skewed, when in reality they are just portal wide.  There is no reason, at least a good one, why you would need more than one instance on the same page.  This is actually not a bug but it is the way it was designed.  The limit to one per page is because the forums render its view a bit differently than most other modules.

Thanks for the reply.
It wasnt a biggie.  It just didnt mention anywhere in the documentation that you couldnt (yes I did RTFM! lol) and unless someone tells me i cant then i will try (i try even when they tell me i cant hahaha).  I just wanted to point out that if it was a feature then there was a bug but as it isnt then there isnt  :)

I was just testing different things to see how it all worked and fitted together and noticed it.

Thanks for a great module!
