Hi all,

I curently have a DNN site on my local server which I am now trying to move over to a live host on the net. I have had a lok at the DNN Creative site to help me but the tutorials seem alot different to my set up. Is there any where else I can look because its taking up much needed time.

Thanks in advance

Steve :)

Hi Steve,

In what way is your setup different? The tutorial should be able to apply to any local DNN installation. - Let me know and I will try to help, thanks,

Lee

Hi Lee,

It might just be me, this is my first DNN project. After the first video where I have backed up my SQL Database I just get lost and cant relate to the videos. Now it is more than likely me not knowing what I am doing but I am having great difficulties setting this up lol.

A couple of things that were different in the video to my set up were:

The DB was already attatched to SQL (i am using SQL2005 not express although it probably doesnt make a difference)

My local website didnt return an error like in the video?

Im going to have another pop at it now so I will let you know how I get on

Thanks for the reply :)

If it is the first time you are installing DotNetNuke to a localhost installation I would first of all just install a fresh installation of DotNetNuke to check that all of your software is working correctly on your computer. - Once you have that running you are half way there for installing a live site to a localhost installation.

There isn't much of a difference between express and 2005 - I personally find it more straight forward using 2005 rather than express - you wont need to attach the database in 2005, you just restore it and you wont get the error either.

Feel free to ask any further questions and I will try to help, cheers,

Hi Lee,

I have made it on the the 4th video tutorial now and as soon as the video starts up you are on the hosting control panel page. But for some reason I cant find my hosting control panel. Any idea of how to get to this screen?

My installation works perfectly on my local server, it has been doing so for the last few weeks now :)
