I had the same problem. I tried some of the same things you did as well as upgrading to the newest version of Announcements. What finally worked was to go into HOST/SEARCH ADMIN and added information to the mak word length and minimum word length then reindex. I chose 10 and 4. I also checked HOST/SCHEDULE to make sure that indexing was running at a set time (it was and without errors).

Note that my feed now has the items in it when displayed in IE. However, it is still not showing any items in Google Reader even after a refresh. So I would count thia as a partial success.

AFAIK changing min / max word length should have no effect on the functionity of the module (it is the core that handles this). Also, if IE displays the feed, it should be available to anyone....

I agree with the "if IE displays the feed, it should be available to anyone" and eventually it did appear in GoogleReader. Evidently the "Refresh" button does not actually cause the feed to be immediately fetched from the web. There must be some delay.

While I was struggling with this delay I did drop the friendly URLs and subscribed that that site. It worked. I did switch back to friendly.

I'm still experimenting. Will be setting up some anouncements today so we'll see.

I think we all agree the current rss implementation is less then optimal It is completely generated by the core and is using the search index, which is not very logical This is recognized by the core team, and in fact, syndication is one of the things that we will look at this year (as part of the ongoing Cambrian effort..)

I've solved this issue reactivating the SearchEngineScheduler. I'd deactivated it because at that time I don't needed to reindexing my web site. But when I've started with news and rss functionality I have to enable it!
