Hi:

I have DNN 4.7.0 installed and I'm getting an AJAX probem in different pages. Instead of getting a ASP.Net Error I get a Javascript error message.

I get this problem in the Event Viewer when I try to change the number of records shown from 10 to any other:

Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerParserErrorException: The message received from the server could not be parsed. Common causes for this error are when the response is modified by calls to Response.Write(), response filters, HttpModules, or server trace is enabled.
Details: Error parsing near 'iewiever_btnEmail" class="CommandButton" hr'.

I get a similar error in the Users tab from the Admin menu, when I try to search for all the users by leaving the Search Box blank and pressing the Search Button. The details this time are:

Details: Error parsing near '  </td>        </td>         </table><br><b'.

I have searched both your forums and Google and I haven't found any solution that would work for me. I have tried disabling server tracing without success, and the same goes for the Request Filtering. None of those worked.

As a side note, I'm getting this error in both Firefox and InternetExplorer.

Thanks for your help.

I noticed I also get this error when I change the Drop Down List in the Security Roles in the Admin Menu from "Global Roles" to any other possibility.

It's clear that the problem comes with the Update Panel refresh by AJAX, but none of the solutions sugested in these forums or in others worked for me, any ideas?

Hey again:

I have found out that in another installation of the same version of DNN (4.7.0), with the same modules installed and the same skin being used (actually it's the production version of my develope site) I'm not getting this error.

I'm not 100% sure, but I guess it has to do something with the AJAX dll's I have, or something like that.

Thanks for your time and for DotNetNuke.

PD: Dunno if you're on vacations, overwhelmed by work or just ignoring this post, but since my production version is working I guess this will be my last bump to this post, but in case I'm being ignore because I made an "ettiquette" mistake in any of my posts, I would thank a little explanation of what I did wrong so I don't make it again and get a reply next time.

Hello everyone,

I'm pretty new to DotNetNuke in terms of actually using it. I got something similar to the messages above when I was changing skins, then, I started getting the error below soon after the error above (Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerParserErrorException: The message received from server could not be parsed. response.Write() response filters, httpModules, server trace enabled "<!DOCTYPE html PUB'.")

An error has occurred.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.PageLoadException: Request for the permission of type 'System.Security.Permissions.FileIOPermission, mscorlib, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed. ---> System.Security.SecurityException: Request for the permission of type 'System.Security.Permissions.FileIOPermission, mscorlib, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed. at System.Security.CodeAccessSecurityEngine.Check(Object demand, StackCrawlMark& stackMark, Boolean isPermSet) at System.Security.CodeAccessPermission.Demand() at System.IO.Path.GetFullPath(String path) at System.Web.Util.FileUtil.IsSuspiciousPhysicalPath(String physicalPath, Boolean& pathTooLong) at System.Web.Util.FileUtil.IsSuspiciousPhysicalPath(String physicalPath) at System.Web.CachedPathData.GetConfigPathData(String configPath) at System.Web.CachedPathData.GetConfigPathData(String configPath) at System.Web.Configuration.WebConfigurationManager.GetWebApplicationSection(String sectionName) at DotNetNuke.Framework.Providers.ProviderConfiguration.GetProviderConfiguration(String strProvider) at DotNetNuke.Framework.Reflection.CreateObject(String ObjectProviderType, String ObjectProviderName, String ObjectNamespace, String ObjectAssemblyName, Boolean UseCache) at DotNetNuke.Modules.NavigationProvider.NavigationProvider.Instance(String FriendlyName) at DotNetNuke.UI.Skins.NavObjectBase.InitializeNavControl(Control objParent, String strDefaultProvider) at DotNetNuke.UI.Skins.Controls.Nav.OnInit(EventArgs e) in C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\DotNetNuke\Website\Admin\Skins\Nav.ascx.vb:line 177 at System.Web.UI.Control.InitRecursive(Control namingContainer) at System.Web.UI.Control.InitRecursive(Control namingContainer) at System.Web.UI.Control.InitRecursive(Control namingContainer) at System.Web.UI.Control.InitRecursive(Control namingContainer) at System.Web.UI.Control.AddedControl(Control control, Int32 index) at System.Web.UI.ControlCollection.Add(Control child) at DotNetNuke.Framework.DefaultPage.Page_Init(Object sender, EventArgs e) in C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\DotNetNuke\Website\Default.aspx.vb:line 589 at System.Web.UI.Control.OnInit(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Page.OnInit(EventArgs e) at DotNetNuke.Framework.PageBase.OnInit(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.InitRecursive(Control namingContainer) at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint) The action that failed was: Demand The type of the first permission that failed was: System.Security.Permissions.FileIOPermission The Zone of the assembly that failed was: MyComputer --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

Again, this is on my laptop using the development.config for my web.config. Any clues? I suspect also it has something to do with AJAX as this is my development machine...but really they should be separate in terms of which dlls it is actually using...my brain hurts.

I'm getting a very similar error.  I am brand new - just started with DotNetNuke installed on a free hosting site at GoDaddy.  Haven't really done anything.  Get this error on any page any time I click Update or Save.  For instance, on the Site Settings page I changed the Title and clicked Update and got this error.  Actually, even if I don't change anything, if I click Update, or "Save Style Sheet", I get this error.

Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerParserErrorException: The Message Received from the server could not be parsed.  Common causes for this error are when the response is modified by calls to Response.Write(), response filters, HttpModules, or server trace is enabled.  Details: Error parsing near 'bid/40/Default.aspx|</object?</layer></s'.

Any help would be appreciated.  I would like to start setting things up but I don't know what the implications of this error are so I don't want to keep doing things.

 - Cindy
