Hey,
Can anyone give me recommendation as to which is the best way to set up the permissions for an end user?
I want the end user of my site to have access to edit the content in the modules I choose, but nothing else - when they log in they should not see the Control Panel on top, nor the admin  menu option.

What I have done so far is to create a user, and then I have added that user to the permissions for a specific text/html module, and checked that they have edit permissions. This works fine, with a couple of exceptions:
- The user does not have access to upload pictures through the fckeditor. I can browse the server, but there is no button for upload at the top.
- The user does not have access to edit the title of the modue.

The title is not a big deal, but I need for the user to be able to upload pictures. I have logged in as an admin, click on 'files' in the upper right corner and added this user in the Folder Security Settings to have both "View Folder" and "Write to Folder" permissions, but that doesn't to make any difference.

How do I enable file upload for a user without giving full page-edit permissions?

Thanks!

Double-check to make sure you have granted the user permission to write to the folder you want them to be able to upload to.

Make sure you use the Update link after assigning the permissions.  I've had issues where I thought I set folder permissions, but never actually updated.

In addition, the user will need to be browsing to/selecting that folder before they'll be able to upload.

Granting a user Edit permission for a module only lets them maintain that module's content...none of the settings.  If you grant the user permission to edit the Page, they'll be able to change all settings within that page (and create sub-pages as well).
