Hi,

Can anyone suggest how to use DB Transactions in DNN framework API. I need to create users using UserController.CreateUser, if UserCreateStatus is Success then conditionally add UserRole using API RoleController.AddUserRole. After that execute custom SP to populate my application specific table data. All of this I want to happen in a single transaction. I can create and use transactions if entire DML statements are through custom code. How to pass (or use) common transaction object between UserController, RoleController and my custom code? Any sample application available that I can use as reference?

Thanks for your help in advace.

I think DNN API does not provide transaction mechanism but .NET Framework does. Transaction in ADO  .NET only provide two kind of result which are Commit or Rollback. The transaction itself will do the rest. If you for example wrapping some method inside a transaction and one of the method fail to execute or something goes wrong, then it will be rollback again.

You can use transaction using ADO .NET Transaction class. Refer to MSDN documentation about ADO .NET transactions.

you can use a transaction in your stored procedure, but AFAIK microsoft DAAB does not provide transactions for multiple calls.
