Rating

I have seen some strange problem with the thread rating, even here at DotNetNuke itself:

I thought the rating in the new forum module is always "out of 10". And what is a rating "10 out of 5" ?

My personal opinion about the new rating ranks 1-10 instead of 1-5 (as in the previous forum version) is that it is a little bit "over done". Why do we need this many different ratings ?

The problems start in giving each rating a meaningfull name (poor, fair, a.s.o.) and when needing to split the stars over two lines to display them this has nothing to do with easy recognizing the quality of an article.

I know that I can manipulte the star images (and I have already done it), but I am still not happy with the 10 different rating levels. They are just too many. I have disabled the rating feature completely which is a shame as it would be quite usefull.

Are there any thoughts in reducing this again ? (I know from another thread here that the 10 rating levels are currently hard coded and can't be easily reduced back to 5).

Best regards, Tom.

Tom,

My guess is that the alt text on the images is something that you can change in the localization file to reflect the proper out of number.

All of it is localized and you can also go into Forum Admin -> Statistics & Rankings where you can override the title as well using any custom text (overriding is not localized). I would have to double check, there may have been a bug related to localized lists here as well as the ratings upgrade too, can't remember .
