hi

the settings of  module in a  page say :

"In this section, you can define the settings that relate to the Module content and permissions (ie. those settings that will be the same on all pages that the Module appears ). "

And that's not happening "at least in my DNN version 4.07"

in fact that's not happening. it's just like ur given permission to this instance of  modules and not to all other instance of the same modules in another pages.

Also if i have apage with  edit page permission for all user, how can i set the permission to the modules to appear in the drop down of the top panel according to different users( = > user 1 can see all the modules and user2 can only see 2 modules  on all pages and in the dropdown in the toppanel of an editpage)

thx

Regards

Elie

TO set the edit permissions of a module you MUST do it on a per module basis

Modules can only inherit the edit permission from the page. They can't be pre-set with more permissions than that. This has been brought up twice in other threads in the last few days and I agree that it would be an excellent enhancement for DNN. At the very least, there should be an option to specify a default module-editor role and have this applied when modules are added.

Also.. if you have a module set to display on all pages and you want to update that module's settings everywhere, you will need to first disable the display on all pages option and hit update, then edit the module again, make your changes and click update, then edit it again, set it to display on all pages and hit update.  This may mess up your pages if the module had been manually moved around panes on other pages.

In my case , i don't want that the user can edit the module, but the main idea is the security on the modules where a client have the right to view the module or not (in a view page or an edit page "where the modules should appear in the drop down according to the loged on user permission")

and as i have understand, i can't  put security on my modules but on the instance of the modules......and in a edit page the drop down list will contains all the modules what ever the loged user permission is.

isn't that right ....correct me if i'm wrong ....and sorry for asking the question alot of time but i wanna be 1010% sure.

thx

Regards

Elie
