DNN Ver: 04.08.00

Event Ver: 03.03.08

Database : SQL2005

Hosted on WebHost4Life.com

website: www.fumcmorganton.org

Just recently updated all versions on site in a new push to maintain a church's website. Everything worked great until we started putting several events on the calendar page. I think total we have around 50 events created in the events module so by no means would I say we have overloaded the module. The page now holding this module takes 20-30 seconds to load and then go from month to month views on my DSL connection (~750 kbps dl).

It doesn't appear to be triggering any errors except for a random timeout which I think I have gotten around by disabling the category select option (which I want back). I also have checked with the hosting company and they don't report any issues. Are there any ways to optimize the performance of this to get acceptable results? It appears to me to be something related to the database activity of this module.

Are you using a lot of recurring events (more than 10 or so) with recurrence end dates that lie far ahead in the future (in the year 2050 or so)? I had that on my site without problems using Events 3.2, but as I upgraded to 3.3.8, it took 2-3 minutes to load the page. I had to set the end dates back to the year 2009 to make the page load in an acceptable time.

For a further discussion, see also thread Slow performance (but also no real solution there, sorry!).

That was it. Actually, user had accidentally enter a 2998 end date instead of 2008 with a weekly occurence. Thanks for helping me find the user error.
