Hi all,

I am pretty new to DNN and have read over a bunch of the documentation but still have a problem that I can't seem to solve.

I like to learn by starting with a "known good" and then tweaking to see cause and effect relationships...as such I want to upload the DNN-Blue(2) skin and have it work just like the default installation DNN-Blue.

What I did was grab the skin out of the installation download (and for this I am using 4.8), alter the color of the images slightly so I can tell that it is different, remove the .ascx file,  Zip it back up and try to upload.  I am uploading:  Horizontal Menu - Fixed Width.htm, Horizontal Menu - Fixed Width.JPG, skin.css, skin.xml, and the three altered .jpg files.

This mostly works but the one thing that doesn't work properly is the menu.  In place of the normal menu I get "[NAV]".  Does anyone have any idea why this is?  Did I miss a setting somewhere in the .css or .xml file?

I know there are a ton of different ways to get a skin done but I am interested (at least for now) in replicating the default installation skin.  The one caveat is that I am running this on a GoDaddy account as they pre-install in when you host there.  I have issue with some of their other services buy I have never run into anything concering their DNN install so I don't know if it could be a problem or not.

Thanks for setting me on the right track.

Seems like the [NAV] token hasn't been recognized by the token replacement engine. What DNN version do you have on GoDaddy? Since [NAV] is a newer token, it may not be recognized by older DNN versions. I'm not sure when [NAV] was introduced, I think in 4.6 or so.

What does the processing log after the skin upload say? Any errors (red lines) ? Look in the "Begin processing file: Horizontal Menu - Fixed Width.htm" section for line "Processing token: [NAV]". What does it say after that line?

The problem was in fact GoDaddy.  I found a second database on the site from years ago and apparently it was getting the two confused or trying to fail over to the old one for some reason.  I am not sure how or why as they were very different names and locations but just deleted the database and did a re-install the the problem resolved.
