After thinking about, I decided to email my hosting provider and ask if the FrontPage extensions are installed on that server.

You know you can get a whole server that you control for like 100 bucks a month from serverbeach.  You can get it with remote desktop setup and everything.  Then you don't have to worry about sharing with people, or someone putting crap on it that you don't know about.

If only I had an extra $100 a month to spare for a server...

Changing hosts is a good idea.  Especially if they are not providing you with a control panel to install/uninstall FP Server Extensions yourself.

Unfortunately, I know next to nothing about running a web server. I would be even more worried about security if I ran my own :).

My hosting provider has indicated that the Front Page extensions are not installed on my server. I am hoping this was just an isolated incident.

I know you already will, but be sure to keep an eye on things.  If they have another security hiccup, scrap 'em and find another web host.
