Hi all.
I have just encountered a very strange problem and I do not know where to begin looking.
I was on my portal and just posted a forum thread when the page back produced a 404 error..
and it has been that way for the last hour....
IE gives me this
"Website declined to show the page"

My tech support guy is unreachable until tomorrow but I have full access to the server. Where should I begin to look for the root of the problem?

Thanks in advance

Mark

PS: Non-DNN applications are still running fine on our server...

Mark,

Start here, this will at least cover the basics of making sure your DNN site is configured properly

  • In IIS your dotnetnuke web site is running
  • In IIS web site properties the default.aspx file is specified as the default page (and make sure the default.aspx file actually exists still)
  • File System security permissions are in place (network service or asp.net machine account needs permission to manipulate web site directory)

Take care,

Ian

Thanks for the help. I did the suggested checks and they were all okay.

My tech guy got back and fixed the problem..
Had something to do with another DNN site using the same port and IP.

Anyways, Thaks for the guideline, this was a good learning experience.

Regards,

Mark
