I've searched for this issue but have not found any info on it, so I assume it has not been reported yet.  I am using DNN 04.07.00 and Event module version 03.03.08.  Right after the application is started there is an exception.  Here's the info:

InnerException: Could not load type 'YourCompany.Modules.CFEventsCustom.CFEventsCustomController'.

StackTrace:
Message: System.Web.HttpException: Could not load type 'YourCompany.Modules.CFEventsCustom.CFEventsCustomController'. at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetType(String typeName, Boolean throwOnError, Boolean ignoreCase) at DotNetNuke.Framework.Reflection.CreateType(String TypeName, String CacheKey, Boolean UseCache, Boolean IgnoreErrors)

Right after that there is a "Host >BusinessControllerClass: YourCompany.Modules.CFEventsCustom.CFEventsCustomController
DesktopModuleId: 125
UpgradeVersionsList: 01.00.00,01.00.00
ExceptionMessage: Value cannot be null. Parameter name: type

Is this a known issue?

The issue is most likely with your code, not having a business controller class though you have it defined in the module definition.

You might also do a select * from desktopmodules where supportedfeatures=-1 if you find any then run update desktopmodules set supportedfeatured=0 where supportedfeatures=-1
