I am new to DNN and need to develop me own custom modules for my own website. I read through some tutorials on how to create custom modules in Visual Studio 2005, but the process is still fairly complex. Then I found SmartModule and SmartDNNModule from snowcovered.com. Those modules allow me to turn any user control into DNN module.

My questions are:

1.      Which module is better?

2.      Do you know anything else better than those?

3.      Any such modules are free?

4.      Will DNN Core team simplify the process for creating custom modules using user controls?

Thanks!

IMHO, if you want to create DNN modules, you should create them as described in the tutorial. If you already have ASP.Net user controls, it might be an option to integrate them using SmartDNN. Of cause, the Core Team tries its best to simplify the process of module developement, as they are interested in getting as many DNN developers and modules an the rail as possible.
