My company is going to begin using DNN as a document portal. We'll be storing hundreds of documents that our users will be able to access.  Unfortunately, I don't see anyway with the built-in features of DNN to loop over a collection of files and display links to to each file automatically.  I don't want to have to manually add a link to every single file, as there will be hundreds, if not thousands of them.

I've successfully been able to write my own ASP page that will loop through a folder on the file system at runtime and dynamically build a HTML table that lists every single file in the folder and provides a link to each.  I've uploaded that to DNN and I can link to it and display all the files.  However, we want to store all of our files in a SQL Server DB, and not on the file system.  So I don't believe my ASP page will work.

Does anyone know of a way to automatically link to every file in a specific folder, when the files are stored in the DB?  Is there some 3rd party module written that can do this?

IF you are going to store the path to the file in the database,  you can use SQLGridSelectedView and the in-line function @MakeLink to display a grid with document detail and appropriate link.  See  http://www.tressleworks.ca/Modules/SQLGridSelectedView/Examples/Links/tabid/80/Default.aspx for a similar example.   /Paul

if files are in portal folders, the "Files" table will hold an entry with file name and folder ID (after sync).
