I am contemplating hosting a dnn intranet, emphasis on intranet, on a server that we already have our website on.

Sooner than later that website will be moved to a new server.
But, the network will still be hosted on the old server, that I would like to add a dnn intranet on to.

My question is, will I encounter issues?

There is never any guarantee that you will or won't encounter issues, that's just the nature of software, but you *shouldn't* encounter issues as long as you are only moving servers but the portal alias (the URL) remains the same.  Even then, if you are changing URLs just be sure to put the new one into your portalalias table (need to be logged in as host, then go modify the portal settings for that portal) in.  If you forget, you can go directly to the database and add the alias later.

I have moved our DNN installation between a couple different servers at this point (we also use it as an intranet) and haven't had problems doing so.
