A typical command is http://localhost:51307/DotNetNuke%20Website%Website1/Default.aspx results in "Cannot Connect to Local Host:49951 or what every #. Seems to change for some reason

 

I can access DNN using Web Developer. I also get this error message using http://localhost/DotNetNuke

More Information... This error occurs when there is a problem reading the configuration file for the Web server or Web application. In some cases, the event logs may contain more information about what caused this error.


Server Version Information: Internet Information Services 7.0.

 

I would really like to be able to simply open up the program so I can work on a website pages off line. Please help ASAP. Thank you!

Is DNN installed under http://localhost/DotNetNuke and http://localhost/DotNetNuke/Website1/Default.aspx.  If so, the reason for this is that you have a web.config file in the root directory and the VD and both have the same handler entries (see item in red in message).  You can remove these entries in the child site to get rid of the error.


Other than that, I would suggest not installing DNN in a root directory and then other DNN installations in VD under that root.  If you want t have multiple DNN sites, but each one under a VD under the root directory and do not install any site under the root directory.
