I am not on the team but I have noticed this since 3.x.x versions. I never delete users. I unauthorized when they are to be retired. You will also find this holds true across child portals. This design seems to lean toward audit trail and user permanence. It does however generate management time in particular if you use child portals as I do. I may have one user hit fifteen child portals in the same DNN instance. When the user is to be retired, I have to unauthorized them in all portals they had access to. I also never delete child portals and do not reuse child portal names. This presents other issues. (Or at least it did in older revs)

Yes, that does appear to be the only way to handle this case.  For me, the lousy part is, in testing I used up all of my own personal e-mails.  Now I can't register any of them, or use them, which is a problem.

I have updated the messages on my site for "retired" users who want to re-enroll to contact me so I can do it.  But, it would be nice to be able to add myself back again.

This issue is back into DNN 6. I was able to manually add the user to a second portal by modifying the userportals table.

Hi Robert

While I'll admit that I haven't tested this situation against DNN 6 I have a feeling that I'll get the same result. As I've said many many times in this thread, I've never been able to recreate the problem if the user has the same basic information (username/email/password/etc). If any of that information is incorrect it's going to fail and that's what it should and is designed to do. So until someone can give me a step by step way to recreate the issue they're seeing there's not much I can do.

That makes more sense, looking through the database records I may have used their nickname instead of their full name. I thought it only went by the userID, but if any part of the criteria doesn't match, that would explain it. I didn't read through all 7 pages to see that. Thanks for responding.
